On February
12th 1958 a Special Parish Meeting was held in the Old School to consider
the offer of the Clinton Devon Estates to sell the property to the Parish.
The offer was accepted and the Village Hall was opened in May 1961. The full story of its acquisition, development and notable events can be found in Frithelstock Past and Present - a 224 page heavily illustrated book that is still in print. See under Publications. A `50 Club' contributes to the running costs - an activity in which many residents take part. For more information. The Hall has since been the venue for many local events. Regular users include the Women's Institute and local skittles teams. Planning work is in hand to improve the facilities and structure. |
