We welcome Lawrence MacLean to Frithelstock

The appointment of Rev. Lawrence MacLean has recently been announced and Lawrence and his wife Jacqueline will be moving to Great Torrington at the end of July in preparation for the Induction in September, the date to be announced in due course.
Lawrence MacLean is currently the Chaplain of St. Mark's Church in Florence, Italy, part of the Diocese of Europe where he has been serving the Church for the last nine years. He has spent most of his time in the complete restoration of the historic building in which the Church occupies and information and photographs of the parish and life in Italy can be found on the church website.
Rev. MacLean was born in London in 1961. He was raised in Derbyshire and educated at Worksop College in Nottinghamshire. He read Theology at Kings London and trained at The Theological College, Chichester. Before moving to the Diocese of Europe he spent all of his ordained life in the Diocese of Gloucester, and during his time in Gloucestershire he helped establish 'Emmaus Gloucestershire', a homeless charity whose aim is to 'help homeless people help themselves'.
Lawrence MacLean is married with four children. Jacqueline, his wife, has worked for over thirty years in Careers Guidance and before leaving for Italy was Head of the Careers Department at Gloucester University. She currently works as the University Counsellor at the International School of Florence. Their four children live close to each other in or near London. Laura, a drama graduate from Exeter University is an actress currently working in the West End, James is in his final year at Oxford reading Theology, Flossy is in her second year at Greenwich University reading History and Benjamin is preparing to sing at the Royal Wedding as he is a Chorister at Westminster Abbey.
Both Lawrence and Jacqueline love the arts and look forward to working closely alongside the local community in the promotion of cultural projects. They have a great love of gardens and gardening and after nine years without their own garden are looking forward to enjoying the benefits of the English garden centre.
